Discovery Place Science to serve as host site for hackathonCLT
Overnight data fest asks citizen technologists to build solutions to make Charlotte the healthiest city
CHARLOTTE — Beginning March 22, Discovery Place Science will serve as the host site for the 7th annual hackathonCLT, an event put on by Charlotte’s largest software company, Tresata. The company has been holding the event in the Queen City since 2013, with this serving as the third year for it to take place at the Museum.
This year, hackathonCLT MMXIX invites developers, students, the community and business leaders to spend 24 hours developing solutions to tackle yet another one of Charlotte’s toughest challenges – population health.
The innovative, bold, data-driven celebration of Charlotte’s tech community encourages participants to use the data carefully compiled for this year’s challenge and create valuable solutions to the challenge.
hackathonCLT MMXIX is expected to draw over 1,200 participants this year from across the country. They will be competing for over $30,000 in awards. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and winners will be selected on March 23 at 12:30 p.m.
During the event’s second day, on March 23, Museum-goers can watch the hackers at work and participate in other tech-driven experiences including interactive learning, data science and AI-related activities.
