Discovery Place Welcomes New Board of Trustees for 2018-19
Discovery Place announces new board members to the Museums’ Board of Trustees, and new Board Chair, Martin Foley.
CHARLOTTE – Discovery Place is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members to the Museums’ Board of Trustees, and new Board Chair, Martin Foley. Joining the 2018-19 Board are:
- Bryan Delaney, Cofounder & Executive Vice President of Skookum
- Dr. Justin Harlow, Dentist and Member of Charlotte City Council
- Jamie McLawhorn, President of Marsh Properties
- Jocelyn Wong, Chief Marketing Officer for Lowe’s
“I am thrilled to welcome this group of community-minded leaders to our Board. They all bring a wide range of expertise and experiences that will be instrumental in helping Discovery Place continue to offer rich and impactful STEM experiences in our community,” said Catherine Wilson Horne, President and CEO of Discovery Place.
The newest members to the Board of Trustees will serve a three-year term until 2021.
Discovery Place is also pleased to welcome the new Chairman of the Board, Martin Foley, Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Foley has been a member of the Discovery Place Board of Trustees since 2014 and succeeds Luther Lockwood. He is joined by the 2019 Slate of Officers: Vice Chairman for External Affairs Paul Camuti of Ingersoll Rand; Vice Chairman for Governance and Past Chairman Luther Lockwood of MBL Advisors; Secretary Brian Leary of Crescent Communities; and returning as Vice Chairman for Internal Affairs is Laura Bowles of Movement Mortgage.
Each Discovery Place trustee serves on at least one standing board committee. Trustees approve organizational policies, review operational goals, advocate for the organization, support organization staff and contribute financially to the Museums’ success. They also ensure that adequate financial and other necessary support is made available through a broad variety of sources in order to sustain and grow the programs and other services of the organization. All officers will serve terms through June 2019. The new Board began their term on July 1.
