Guitar Stolen from Discovery Place
Artifact missing from Guitar exhibition – Museum needs your help
Artifact missing from Guitar exhibition – Museum needs your help
Discovery Place, along with Charlotte Center City partners, is asking the public for help in recovering a guitar that was stolen from the Museum’s traveling exhibition, Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked the World. The air guitar was realized to be missing yesterday after staff members prepared to open the Museum for the public.
Officials hope to get the attention of those who might know the whereabouts of the missing artifact through social media. Any information should be reported to Discovery Place via Twitter (@DiscoveryPlace) using #WhoStoleTheAirGuitar.
The only tips the Museum has received on its whereabouts have come through social media, with reports of suspects “jamming” on the historical artifact. “There have been sightings all across the Charlotte region of people using the air guitar. We strongly discourage people from handling this priceless artifact,” said Sarah Macey, Director of Exhibition Design for Discovery Place, Inc. “We just want to see it returned and restored to the exhibition.”
A reward of one free air guitar will be provided to anyone who can provide information to Museum officials. If you know the whereabouts of the missing air guitar, please return it to Discovery Place on Saturday, July 18 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Discovery Place’s Tryon Street patio. No charges will be pursued if the artifact is returned during this time.
