Discovery Place Science to host 21+ comedy night with a science twist

CHARLOTTE – Get ready to roll on the floor with laughter as Discovery Place Science presents Science on the Rocks: LOL on Friday, May 19 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. This adults-only event will show a side of science that will tickle your funny bone with live comedy performances, joke competitions and hilarious live-action games.

Let loose with Minute To Win It gag games. You will have 60 seconds to complete some hilarious and ridiculous challenges to be crowned the ultimate joker. Then roll over to the sidesplitting game of Live Action Hungry, Hungry Hippos, push your luck in a round of Pie Face, or put on your best poker face in the science edition of Box of Lies, as featured on NBC’s The Tonight Show.

Expand your mind with a featured performance by Brian Malow, Earth’s premier science comedian, or marvel at a mind-bending performance by comedy hypnotist Gary Conrad, as seen on ABC’s The View. Then cheer on local comedic talent in Discovery Place’s first ever Open Mic Night, featuring a panel of judges from the Comedy Zone with $300 in cash and prizes.

Explore why flatulence is so funny the Fart Lab in the all-new Explore More Me lab. Light farts on fire using methane gas, get your hands dirty with farting slime, and explore the strange droppings of animal scat in this gaseous game.
Learn the rules of improvisation and then let your imagination run wild with Charlotte Comedy Theatre for a night of fun improv games. At the end of the evening, the cast will perform a high-energy live show, full of hilarious “you had to be there” experiences.

Science on the Rocks is Discovery Place’s premier adults-only event that takes place the third Friday of every month. Guests must be ages 21+ to enter. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Science on the Rocks is Discovery Place’s adults-only event that takes place the third Friday of every month from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Guests age 21+ have a chance to explore the Museum afterhours to “play like a kid and party like an adult.” Each month has a theme, and unlike fieldtrips from your childhood, Science on the Rocks transforms each floor with bars and music from Channel 96.1, 102.9The Lake, 96.9 The Kat and 106.5 The End.
