Swarm into Discovery Place Science over Spring Break for the first-ever Buzz-a-thon
CHARLOTTE – Tick, tick, tick… Discovery Place Science is celebrating Spring Break with special bug activities on the clock as part of the Museum’s first-ever Buzz-a-thon. This special programming runs April 13-20 at the Museum in Uptown Charlotte.
With special hourly activities tailored to complement the Museum’s current Bug Lab exhibition, guests will get up close with live bugs, build mini robotic bugs and watch them dance around, craft beautiful butterfly masks to take home and much more. Plus, our bravest visitors can check out the Bug Bistro to try a taste of protein-packed insects and earn their “Certified Bug Eater” buttons.
Activities vary by day so visitors should check the daily schedule at discoveryplacescience.org.
Highlights include:
- Meet a Bug: Get to know some of the Museum’s favorite bugs.
- Bug Lifecycles: Learn to identify the various stages of a bug’s life. From egg to larva, from pupa to adult, every bug has an amazing journey.
- Fruit Fly Genetics: Learn how scientists use fruit flies to study genetics.
Armored Bug Build: Craft your own exoskeleton.
All Buzz-a-thon activities are included with Museum admission, which is $19 for adults; $15 for children and $17 for seniors. Members receive free admission to the Museum all year round. Explore the Bug Lab exhibition for an additional $3 per person. Be sure to catch this must-see exhibition before it buzzes out of here May 5!
