CHARLOTTE, NC (Sunday, November 12)– Discovery Place Science announces “Military Heroes Weekend” November 18-19, sponsored by USAA. Thanks to the incredible support from USAA, the Museum will offer free admission, including entrance to the featured exhibition Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes, to those with active military ID or USAA membership and their families.*

“USAA is honored to sponsor Discover Place Science’s Military Appreciation weekend because it mirrors our mission of serving the military community and their families, and it gives us a great opportunity to make a positive impact where our employees live and work,” said USAA CFO Jeff Wallace, who also serves as the Charlotte Site Leader for USAA. USAA has more than 600 employees in the Charlotte metropolitan area.

“We are grateful to USAA for giving us this opportunity to welcome military families to Discovery Place Science, free-of-charge, for the weekend,” said Catherine Wilson Horne, president and CEO of Discovery Place. “We thank our military for their service, and by providing free admission, USAA is supporting our organization’s vision to offer accessible options for the community.”

Tickets must be reserved online in advance through the Discovery Place website here. Free admission tickets are for timed entry and require proof of eligibility by showing an active military ID or USAA membership, with a card or through the USAA mobile app, upon arrival at the Museum.

On Saturday, November 18, Veterans Bridge Home will also be hosting their annual HeroRun at 8:00 a.m. in South Park. Veterans Bridge Home is dedicated to helping veterans successfully transition back to civilian life after military service. We are excited to join them in saluting our military community by extending the celebration of our Military Heroes at Discovery Place Science.

*Free admission includes up to four (4) tickets per active military ID or USAA membership. Additional tickets, which include entrance to Discovery Place Science and the featured exhibition ‘Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes,’ can be purchased at the special price of $34 each. Military families will also receive Member pricing for parking and documentary films in the Accenture IMAX Dome Theatre as well as a 20% discount in Shop Science during their visit.
