New annual membership provides unlimited museum access and a welcoming third place for youth ages 14–20

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 6, 2026) – Discovery Place Science is introducing a new Youth Membership designed to give teenagers and young adults throughout the Charlotte region a welcoming place to explore, connect and cultivate their curiosity.
For $49.95 annually, Youth Members receive unlimited admission to Discovery Place Science, giving them ongoing opportunities to engage in hands-on experiences, delve into scientific inquiry and become part of a community of curious peers.
“With the launch of the Youth Membership, Discovery Place is strengthening its role as a place where teens and young adults can connect with science, explore new ideas and engage with a community of curious minds,” said Dr. Nikki Hill, Chief Learning Officer at Discovery Place. “This reflects Discovery Place’s commitment to serving as a resource for the Charlotte community at every stage of life.”
The Youth Membership builds on the Museum’s long-standing role as a place where curiosity is welcome. For teenagers and young adults, welcoming spaces outside of home, school and work are increasingly rare. Discovery Place Science is helping address this need by offering young people ages 14–20 a meaningful third place where they can discover new interests, spend time with friends and feed their curiosity.
“Young people benefit from opportunities to gather around shared ideas and new experiences,” said Dr. Hill. “By giving young people ongoing access to Discovery Place Science, we’re creating more moments for meaningful engagement while encouraging the next generation of scientists, innovators and problem-solvers to keep asking questions and pursuing ideas.”
